If statement in shell script

  if [ "$result" == "1" ]
    then

    then

    fi

Bash if in terminal

if [[ $- == *i* ]]; then
    do_interactive_stuff
fi

Ifs bash

IFS stands for "Internal Field Separator". 
It is used by the shell to determine how to do word splitting.
