How to unzip Tar file

## Untar files in Current Directory ##
tar -xvf filename.tar.gz

## Untar files in specified Directory ##
tar -xvf filename.tar.gz -C /path_name_for_unzip/

-x : extract
-C : specified directory
-v : Verbosely show the .tar file progress.
-f : filename of archive file

How to zip and unzip tar

Compress:
tar -czvf name-of-archive.tar.gz /path/to/directory-or-file

Uncompress:
tar -xzvf archive.tar.gz

Legend:

-c: Create an archive.
-z: Compress the archive with gzip.
-v: Display progress in the terminal while creating the archive, also known as “verbose” mode. The v is always optional in these commands, but it’s helpful.
-f: Allows you to specify the filename of the archive.
-x: extract
